Conference Venue

The seminar will be organised in Khajuraho (District Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh) - a well known tourist destination, known for its 10th and 11th century temples, and more so for their erotic sculpture. The 21 sq. km area with 22 temples, out of the original more than 80, is now a UNESCO's World Heritage Site. Khajuraho is an interesting village with a quaint rural ambience and a rich cultural heritage.

There is a lot more to see around Khajuraho. The area has dozens of water bodies (tanks or lakes) besides a couple of large reservoirs. Among the important attractions for ecotourism are the Panna Tiger Reserve, magnificient Raneh Falls on River Ken, the Ken Ghariyal sanctuary, Vijaysagar bird sanctuary in adjacent district Mahoba (U.P.) and many wetlands such as Rangwan, Gangau, Benisagar, Belatal, and Madansagar within 50 km from Khajuraho. River Ken, which drains the area and flows through the Panna National Park, is a major tributary of R. Yamuna, and of special interest because of its near pristine condition and the proposed Ken Betwa River Link.
